WHY VOTE NO ON THE ARLINGTON SCHOOL BOND?

FIGHT WASTEFUL SPENDING. Our school district is notorious for its extravagant projects. In these challenging times, belt-tightening is needed. Just last year, Arlington Public Schools borrowed over $52 million. Now the school board wants a $23 million bond — even though enrollment is below 2019 levels.

DEMAND BETTER. Arlington Public Schools let our kids down — academically, socially and emotionally. Initially, after schools went virtual, the district refused to introduce new academic concepts (all lessons were “review only”). Every Monday was a “teacher prep day.” And the district has no real plan to address the resulting learning losses.

SEND A MESSAGE. School board members have become overly focused on ideological fads, rather than core educational needs. Now more than ever, they should get back to basics.
